This inn, originally built as a private home in 1943 and transformed into a simple hotel in 1948, didn't become well known until the late 1960s, when its reasonable rates began to attract families with children and college students traveling in groups. It's a stucco-covered building with vaguely Spanish-colonial detailing on a residential street lined with similar structures. For the past 4 years, it has been a sister property of the At Wind Chimes Inn, and the inn has been steadily being made over since then. The lobby and the fabulous restaurant Niché have granite walls, tiled floors with mood lighting, and are connected by an interior tropical garden. The guest rooms are bright and cheery, and there are great areas to hang out, including a rooftop terrace. The beach, among the city's finest, is at the end of the block, and guests can hang out at the Wind Chimes pool and cafe bar. Each unit has simple furniture and a small shower-only bathroom. There's a whirlpool and sun deck. You are literally steps from the beach here.

With their new movie "Total Recall" set to hit theaters on August 3rd, "Total Recall" stars Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale and Colin Farrell garnered themselves a little added exposure by covering the July/August 2012 of Maxim magazine.

The James White shot front page found Miss Beckinsale sporting a Twenty Tees tank, Bec and Bridge shorts and Ferragamo shoes, Miss Biel clad in a Cosabella tank with Jet Jeans pants and the always studly Mr Farrell donning a Giorgio Armani shirt with AllSaints jeans.

"I have been quite surprised about that, especially in the age of people watching porn on their cell phones.
